ARCHEOLOGY: Did a mega drought topple empires 4,200 years ago?

People abandoned thriving cities in Mesopotamia, the Indus Valley and farther a field at about the same time as a decades-long drought gripped parts of the planet ...   SYRIA - The missing earthworms were a sign. As archaeologist Harvey Weiss and his colleagues excavated a site in northeast Syria, they found a buried layer of wind-blown silt so barren there was hardly any evidence of earthworms at work during that ancient era. Something drastic had happened thousands of years ago — something that choked the land with dust for decades, leaving a blanket of soil too inhospitable even for earthworms. The drought hit in roughly 2200  bc , when the Akkadian Empire dominated what is now Syria and Iraq. By 2150  bc , the empire was no more. The central authority had disintegrated, and many people had voted with their feet, leaving the region. The overlap between an epic drought and the collapse of the Akkadian Empire was no mere coincidence, according to Weiss, an archaeologist at Y...

Russia amassing troops all along the board with Ukraine and accord to the Allie an invasion is imminent … KIEV – It is not even an year from the horror we have been witness of what has happened in Afghanistan and the peaceful and democratic west seems ready, with NATO pushing for it, to another conflict as the lesson, of false weapon of mass destruction presently hold by Saddam Hussain dictatorship in the submitted Iraqi population, seems have not be learnt yet. Two – NATO need a reason to it own existence (NOTE: NATO or Atlantic alliance was born in contrast of the Warsaw pact which was the threat to the West by Soviet Union expansion) Three – Both Biden (US Presid...

UKRAINE WAR: Eyes on Chernobyl ...

WASHINGTON - Russian and Ukrainian forces fought on Thursday for control of Chernobyl, the still radioactive site of the world's worst nuclear accident and a factor in the collapse of the Soviet Union. "Our defenders are giving their lives so that the tragedy of 1986 will not be repeated," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy tweeted before the defunct nuclear power plant, scene of a deadly fire and explosion in 1986, was captured by Russian forces. But why would anyone want an inoperative power plant surrounded by miles of radioactive land? The answer is geography: Chernobyl sits on the shortest route from Belarus to Kyiv, Ukrainian's capital, and so runs along a logical line of attack for the Russian forces invading Ukraine. In seizing Chernobyl, Western military analysts said Russia was simply using the fastest invasion route from Belarus, an ally of Moscow and a staging ground for Russian troops, to Kyiv.
